Back on January 18th, the hip-hop community lost one of its greats when A$AP mob founder, A$AP Yams, was tragically found dead in his NYC apartment. The cause of his death was unknown at the time, but we now have some new details.
According to NYT pop critic Jon Caramanica, the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled A$AP Yams' death accidental. The cause of death was reported to be an acute mixed drug intoxication, which included opiates and benzodiazepine (See tweet below).
If you remember, Rocky released a statement, denying the rumors that Yams had died from an overdose, but was apparently misinformed. Rocky originally stated,
“People were saying that Yams overdosed on drugs — he didn’t overdose on any drugs. I feel like people feel that way because that’s all he’s in pictures doing. When you see A$AP Yams you see Hennessey or purple drink, you see some type of controlled substance or illegal narcotic.”
We'll keep you posted on any further updates.
