We've been a supporter of Amir Obe back when he was going by Phreshy Duzit, but as of late, the Detroit native has definitely come into his own. Not only did transitioning from Phreshy to Amir elicit a refreshing change in his sound (as we heard on his last mixtape Detrooklyn), he's opened more doors, namely the OVO door. The rapper recently saw a great look when Drake debuted his record "Just Know" on OVO Sound Radio over the weekend. To keep the momentum going, Amir has released that song plus two others on SoundCloud today, all of which are produced by fellow Detroit native NYLZ.
"Say No More" has a similar feel as the accompanying two songs, "Just Know" and "On A Ride," so much so that the trio could work as a succinct EP. Amir opts for a low-fi quality, singing his raps. The song gradually builds with NYLZ's production getting bigger and bigger, before slowly disappearing and turning into a different song altogether.
Quotable Lyrics
See you on MediaTakeOut
Used to be Netflix or take out
Pass through the city I think about you
Know that it's you when I sing about you
Drunk dialin' I'm wylin'
Could tell that you care when you cryin'
