This isn't the first time we've seen Chicago MCs Alex Wiley and Mick Jenkins collaborate, and it won't be the last either. Earlier this month we saw the two team up for the joint effort "Forever", although it remains unclear if they have a full collaborative project coming or if this was a just loose track-- either way, they're back at it on Alex Wiley's new single "Own Man."
The track will find life on Wiley's forthcoming sophomore album, Village Party, which arrives in spring 2014. He's got production from Odd Couple on this one.
Download the cut and let us know if you're feeling these two Chi-town spitters, and stay tuned later this week for our list of 10 Chicago Players, to follow up the 10 Detroit Players!
Quotable Lyrics
I've been drinking all this water
Piss ain't never been so clear
I never been so thirsty
I'mma be a martyr, I'mma be a menace
They be showing love for the green nigga
I got the advantage, I been playing tennis
We could take it to the table if you want there
But I don't think you really want it there
Fairer skin get the most airplay
And I don't think you really want it fair
And I been running this whole thing like a turtle
Trust me nigga I don't think you really want it here
Slow grind, been penning these poems since '09
Give a fuck about the pigs
I ain't never really fed into the bovine
